2020 Holiday Décor Trends

Nov 20, 2020
While the holidays bring up visions of filled-to-the-brim dinner tables or hoards of extended family around the fireplace, this year’s festivities are looking a bit different. With lockdowns, and restrictions in place through many states, most of us won’t be traveling for the holidays, and big family celebrations are now more intimate gatherings.

Many have chosen to begin decorating their homes earlier on this holiday season to help ignite positivity and joy. Here are some of the top holiday décor trends we are seeing this year:

Bringing the Outside In

This year, people are craving the peacefulness of nature and it has emerged in the form of holiday décor this season. Maintaining a connection to the outdoors is an essential part of the holiday experience and this trend is all about earthiness.

Think rustic and nature-inspired by incorporating natural garlands, branches, and small pine trees into your holiday décor. This not only creates a cozy look but fills your home with the smells of nature.

Lighting Up Every Space

Light up each and every room in your home with twinkle lights and candles - this is a surefire way to inject magic into any space! When your yearly traditions are altered due to an ongoing pandemic, we need to find ways to bring that into our space as much (and as inexpensively) as we possibly can.

Add even more coziness by adding battery-powered lights to mason jars, taper candles on your fireplace mantel, or add candle votives along your window sills.

No Room is Off Limits

The great thing about the holidays is that when it comes to decorating, you can express your creativity through every room in your home! No rooms are off-limit and one of the best surprises of the holiday season is all of the fun places holiday décor can make an appearance.

While of course there are the obvious places to decorate like the living room, you can expect to see more holiday decorations placed throughout the entire home this year. Every room can be decorated including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and basements - spread the joy throughout!

Creating Joy from the Street

A top trend this year that will bring holiday cheer is decorating the exterior of your home. What you may have considered too much work last year, will now feel like a thoughtful way to send a socially-distanced hug to all of your neighbors.

We foresee many people taking leisurely drives around neighborhoods to see how others have decorated their homes and to feel the holiday spirit!
